Henry Cagey

Henry Cagey serves as our Vice President of Native Affairs. Henry is a well respected tribal leader & sovereignty advocate throughout the Northwest and beyond. He is a member of the Lummi Nation and has lived on the reservation for his entire life. Henry is a veteran of the US Navy, 1979-1982 on the U.S.S. Constellation. After the Navy, Lummi Nation employed Henry in a variety of positions including Fisheries Enforcement, TERO Director, and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Economic Development Director. Starting in 1990 Henry was Chairman for nine (9) straight years for the Lummi Nation. He supervised the transition of Lummi Nation to a Selfgovernance Tribe. He took several years to pursue other interests but in 2008 he was re-elected to another term as Chairman.

Henry also served as a Governing Board member for the United Indian Of All Tribes Foundation located in Seattle. He has worked with the organization for twenty (20) years. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Tribal Development Association for thirteen (13) years and currently serves as their Board President. In 2008 he became the Chairman for the SAMHSA Tribal Advisory Group and a member of the Tribal Justice Advisory Group, Northwest Region Representative Alternate and serves on other various tribal boards and groups. He has been married for 34 years, has three (3) daughters and four (4) grandsons.
